Growing a Greener Campus May 6
Start or capitalize on your campus' Green initiative by joining on May 6.  It's your chance to hear from experts in sustainability and learn about eco-friendly technologies that you can put into practice.

 Keyote Speaker:  Debra Rowe, PhD.

Dr. Rowe is the President of the U.S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development (www.uspartnership.org ).  The U.S. Partnership convenes members of the business, education, communities, government, and faith sectors of the U.S. and catalyzes sustainability initiatives. She helps higher education associations and institutions integrate sustainability into mission, curricula, research, student life, purchasing and investments, facilities and operations, and community partnerships.  She also created and teaches energy management and renewable energies in an on-line format with National Science Foundation support (www.ceret.us), has hosted over one hundred conferences and customized trainings on energy and sustainable design practices, and has helped numerous colleges develop their energy curricula.  Debra Rowe is often a keynote speaker at national and international education conferences.  She is the author or editor of numerous publications on the integration of sustainability into education.

William Thirsk, VP of IT / CIO
Marist College

Mr. William Thirsk was appointed Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of Marist College in June 2007.  As Vice President he oversees all areas of information technology and enterprise communication systems.  Bill has over twenty years of expertise in higher education technology management as a campus technology officer and he has extensive experience in the private sector.   Prior to his position at Marist, Bill served as the SunGard Managed Services CIO at Mercy College where he was responsible for 48.5 million in new sales, earning himself the distinction of membership into the SunGard Chairman’s Club.  He started at SunGard as an Executive Director of Technology and CIO of St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida and three years later accepted the position of Southeastern Regional Account Manager at the SunGard subsidiary, Eduprise, an instructional technology hosting and consulting firm.  Bill joined SunGard after his post as Director of Computing Services at Campbell University in Buies Creek.  His experience in higher education technology management is broad based covering such areas as strategic planning, enterprise management, network design and implementation, telecommunications, web services, and instructional technology.  Bill holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from George Washington University and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
